IELTS Academic Writing Course​

Gain a comprehensive understanding of what the examiners are looking for and how to approach the tasks, plan, and write the summary and essay.

Learn how to manage your time, organize your ideas, and incorporate transitions, topic sentences, and other essential components into the writing.

Each class will comprise a 1-hour lecture, followed by 1 hour of practical drills.

IELTS Academic Reading Course​

Find out how this section is structured in terms of timing, appearance, question types, skills required, scoring, do’s and don’ts, the difference between paper vs. computer test, how to prepare, what materials to use, and more.

Class aims: To effectively use two different approaches to working with the text to reduce the amount of reading needed, save time, and increase accuracy of answers

Reading Class 2

Core skill: skimming

Questions types:

  • matching information
  • short answers

Class aims: To look over large sections of text to get a gist (general idea) of the information contained and look for keywords as starting points for focused searches (scanning)

Reading Class 3

Core skill: summarizing

Questions types:

  • matching title
  • matching headings/statements to individual paragraphs

Class aims: To quickly look over a paragraph of a text to get a general idea (gist) of what the focus of that paragraph is and be able to reduce the paragraph to a few words

Reading Class 4

Core skill: scanning

Questions types:

  • matching information
  • multiple choice

Class aims: To quickly find details (keywords, numbers, names, etc.) in the reading passage to use to answer questions and fill in blanks or match information to source

Reading Class 5

Core skill: paraphrasing (synonym base)

Question types:

  • True/False, Yes/No, Not Given

Class aims: To ensure that statements in the questions accurately reflect the statements in the reading passage based on the ways these statements are structured

Reading Class 6

Core skill: paraphrasing (syntax base)

Questions types:

  • sentence completion
  • Listed options
