*What is the difference between a tutor and a coach?
A tutor helps you learn specific skills you need to achieve certain goals. For example, a tutor might teach you grammar, reading comprehension skills, and new vocabulary among other things.
A coach helps you reach a goal by assessing your strengths and weaknesses and then guiding you as you harness the former and overcome the latter. He will show you how to study the material you need, how to save time and work efficiently, and he will help you create a strategy and work plan that will help you reach your goal faster.
Of course tutors do coach, and coaches do tutor as well. A coach, though, stresses self-reliance, a necessary tool for success on Test Day, when you will be on your own facing the IELTS, TOEFL, or any other exam.
Lastly, a coach is a motivator and enabler who understands that test success has as much to do with confidence, determination, and focus as it does with knowledge.
